Journal entries from the band on the road.
1/15/06  ASPEN, CO  “Belly Up”
Snow was falling hard as we arrived at this legendary ski town.  We unloaded our gear from the bus through fresh powder snow into the club.  This club was quite a treat for us, very classy.  Every thing was brand new and state of the art.  The staff was really cool and took care of us,  feeding us well. We checked into our ski hotel and got ready for the show.  Leaving the hotel we had to push the shuttle van out of a snow bank it got stuck in!  Snow flakes everywhere.  The show was nearly sold out and both Soul Majestic and Anthony B put on energetic sets, warming up the snow town vibes with some musical fire.  The excellent sound and hospitality made everyone happy.  The next morning was a sight, watching our crew mingle at the hotel with all the ski tourists!

1/21/06  TELLURIDE., CO  “Opera House”
Cool old time town underneath beautiful mountains.  The venue was an old historic opera house.  It was so cold there! Ten below zero!   People came out though and braved the cold.  Another nice Colorado show and crowd.  Definitely a unique venue.  The next morning the tour bus heater wouldn’t turn on because of the cold and they had to chisel ice off from the inside windshield!  The Jamaican crew were all huddled together to keep warm.

1/29/06 Oh’ the Sweet Smell of Tuberoses

After such a long and cold trek through the Colorado Rockies the sweet smell of Hawaii’s Tuberoses couldn’t have come at a better time. The warm tropical breeze begins to thaw out my body and I feel like we’ve made it through the storm. Snagga (Anthony B’s and our drummer for the tour who has never before been to Hawaii), opens his hotel rooms sliding door which opens up to a Coconut Grove and a white sand beach yells to me from a distance “yo this feels like Jamaica mon. Paradise at last. I wish we could just tour the Hawaiian Islands 8 months out of the year. Eric-I

3/13/06 Everybody Out of the Bus

While driving on the cold and wind chapped roads of Michigan between two shows in Ann Arbor and Indianapolis, I hear from the front of the bus, we’re getting pulled over. I jump out of my seat and run to the back to let the others know so they can extinguish any fragrant evidence. As we wait for the Michigan State Police to approach the bus, the driver, road manager and I debate whether the bus is indeed a private coach in which the cops cannot enter without a search warrant. But of course without warning the officer steps on the bus, looks around and says “smells like marijuana”. As the officers 5 person back up slowly arrives they shuffle us out of the bus and on to the side of the road while 70 mph winds blow dust and debris in our faces. After about 45 minutes one of the officers steps out of the bus with a smile on his face like he made the biggest bust in Michigan history. Holding up a bag of weed about 1 finger across he asks who’s weed? No one replied. He then went on to interrogate each one of us asking who’s bunk is that, as he pointed to the bunk where he found the bag? Still nobody fessed up. Finally another officer walked out with a passport that he found in the bunk and called out the name. After driving through places like Utah and Nevada, we weren’t sure how strict the laws were in MI and praying that it wasn’t a zero tolerance state. After searching the bus and realizing that we weren’t carrying any guns, drugs or bombs, he said while writing the ticket, that the judge would probably just dismiss the ticket and he wouldn’t process the fine.
